Entry #8 Tablet Review

Image
Recently, I picked up a new drawing tablet while shopping at Bookmans, a retro exchange shop, looking through the electronics section. It had a pretty cheap price point, so I picked it up and tested to see if it was good. I will be giving my review of the Wacom Bamboo Capture Pen (CTH470), a one-hundred-dollar drawing tablet, that I bought for twenty dollars. The Wacom drawing tablet is one of the best-feeling tablets I have used yet for its low price point. As one of its selling points, Wacom advertises this tablet as having a pen-on-paper feel when used. They did deliver with this statement, feeling natural and even sounding as if I were drawing on a sheet of paper. The other pro to this tablet is that the pen does not require batteries and is activated when near the tablet’s surface. This alleviates the issue of not having charged batteries or risking breaking a pen that twists apart.  Now, interested in how the tablet responds to the drawing application that I use on a ...

Using hashtags can expand your reach to a new audience online. They can also be used to filter out posts, an alternative to filtering specific posts one might be searching for. Many art communities also make hashtags where their followers can send fan art and participate in challenges. There are a myriad of ways that hashtags can be used to connect users with similar interests or find an audience for said content. Using hashtags should also be very limited when making posts. Sure, one might think that a large number of hashtags will help reach many different communities and bring in new viewers. Instead, this could have the opposite effect, deterring users from the post. As Hannah Macready states, “Limit the number of hashtags you use. More isn’t always better. It actually looks spammy.” It’s even more important that you only use hashtags that relate to ones post, or it could be seen as an interjection to an unrelated community.  The number of hashtags that should be ...

Entry #4 Pokémon Scalper turned Stalker

Image
Some might remember the consumers’ craze to buy toilets, eggs, sanitizers, and baby products during the COVID pandemic. After that, some would find those reselling the product for a significant price hike. Otherwise known as scalping, the action of buying demanding products and selling for a profit. Vann Vicente , a How-To Geek article publisher, states, “Scalpers often take advantage of scarcity, purchasing items with limited availability and high demand.” This trend has been growing, especially in the Pokémon Trading Card Game community. Those in the community have seen a surge in Pokémon sets going out of stock the second they are released. Making it difficult for those who were eagerly waiting to pick up the newest set. Many thought this hassle would have been alleviated with the introduction of the local vending machines that sold Pokémon card box sets. This, in turn, only made things worse as many would encounter scalpers buying up the entire stock and leaving nothi...

Entry #3 Delusional Success

Imagine Games Network, otherwise known as IGN , is a gaming journalism website. One that has been coming into a lot of backlash with how they have been reviewing games recently. A great example of this would be with the recent release of Ubisoft’s newest game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows . A video game series that was known for being faithful to the culture and history of the time period they are portraying. While taking some liberty to create their own story with events that never happened. The IGN article “ Assassin’s Creed Shadows Hits 2 Million Players 2 Days After Release, Ubisoft Says It’s Now Surpassed Origins and Odyssey Launches ” written by Wesley Yin-Poole , states that “It has a ‘very positive’ user review rating, with 81% of over 6,000 user reviews marked as positive.” Though he fails to mention that Steam will only show reviews from consumers who have bought the game directly from their store page. Not to mention that this is only 10% of the current player base on ...

Hyperlink Moderation (Entry #0)

Hyperlinking is a key feature when it comes to making an online blog. Especially if its to promote or compare consumer products that are yet to release. Giving in depth information is a great way to keep readers well informed and up to date. This is where The Verge blogs thrive and blogs made by Highsnobiety flops.      In Sean Hollister’s, who writes for The Verge, blog about “ what PC handhelds makers should do about competing with the Switch 2 ” greatly takes advantage of hyperlinking. Sean mainly uses this feature to keep reader informed about the different PC handhelds in the market, when citing statements, and the up coming Switch 2. Allowing readers to stay informed and read more about the products that he is talking about. This also keeps his audience engaged with the article and allows for more click through rates for The Verge’s website.      One the other hand, Highsnobiety’s blogs lack in the use of hyperlinking and make...
